Alright. I’m going to make this as professional as possible. Even though Dwyane Wade has been the face of the Miami Heat since 2003 and my wallpaper on my Samsung Galaxy S4 for about a year, business in the NBA once again proves that history means jack when the dollar signs are thrown into the pot.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat are way off in terms of contract negotiations.
Though Wade prefers to stay with the Heat, where he has spent his entire 12-year career, he is now open to considering other teams this summer if the Heat does not raise its offer, according to three sources with direct knowledge.
Wade must decide by late June whether to opt out of a contract that would pay him $16.1 million next season.
The Heat wants to keep him but believes that paying him what he’s seeking would dramatically reduce its flexibility to add additional players during the summers of 2016 and 2017.
I don’t want to overhype this, but I’m afraid I might be going down that road. If Wade is gone, somebody has to take the torch. Now Chris Bosh is clearly next in line which I am happy with. He did it in Toronto with some sort of success and even better for the Heat that Bosh is a veteran in his prime.
Personally, I don’t want Wade to go, he can still produce as we saw this year, he’s one of the best leaders in the game on and off the court, we saw that in the ‘Big 3 era’ and now when we see him talk to Hassan Whiteside and Shabazz Napier. He should stay, but the Heat wouldn’t be the Heat if they caved in and gave him the money. This will be a key story throughout the summer so buckle up.
