Last week, rumors popped up that Heat legend was about to opt-out of his contract with Miami. With Dwyane Wade’s decision he forced himself, to make an even bigger decision, where to move. Los Angeles was rumored to have mutual interest in Wade. So now the discussion of Wade in a Lakers uniform with Kobe Bryant raises the question, how much will the Heat have to pay to save the childhood of everyone who grew up watching them. It wouldn’t work well, both of them are retiring and they play the same position, it wouldn’t work.
Now heat fans will pray that Pat Riley will solve his issues with Wade and pay him what he wants. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN:
Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat are planning to meet within the next week to address contract issues and attempt to reach an agreement on the future, multiple sources told ESPN.
Wade has until next Monday to decide on whether he’s going to opt in for next season and earn $16.1 million or become an unrestricted free agent.
Wade and the Heat sit far apart on their desires; the Heat would prefer for Wade to opt into the deal and Wade would prefer a new, richer and longer-term contract, sources said.
If the Heat are able to retain everyone they finished with they wouldn’t be a bad team. Goran Dragic, Wade, Bosh, Deng, seems like a good enough offensive lineup to make it into the NBA Playoffs.
