Dwyane Wade was willingly aboard a banana boat for the second year in a row. This time he had a special snapchat geofilter to pair with it. The question is, where will he park his newest ride?
Wade agreed to a deal with the Miami Heat last summer after the two sides weren’t able to secure a long-term deal. He signed on for one year worth $20 million. After years of paycuts to allow Miami to secure some top talent, he wants to get paid.
Dwyane wants his money and it appears that he’s ready to look elsewhere to do so.
Following from Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
Dwyane Wade’s initial contract discussions with the Miami Heat have not produced a common ground between the parties, which has the All-Star guard preparing to field outside offers when free agency opens on Friday, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that Wade’s representatives have made it known to multiple teams over the last several days that he will be on the market, sources said. Some teams have been skeptical, wondering if Wade would seriously consider leaving the franchise where he’s played 13 seasons and won three titles.
The Heat and Wade had several contentious weeks last year before they agreed on a one-year, $20 million deal for this past season.
Would Wade willingly leave the Miami Heat? Only time can tell. The important thing to note is that Miami now has to decide between keeping Wade or max out Hassan Whiteside and what’s going to happen with Chris Bosh’s future. Miami’s three best players all have questionable futures in South Beach.
Wade wants to end his career in Miami. He’s been a ‘Heat-lifer’ and has been a champion in Miami, both with and without LeBron James. Does he have one more championship run in him? Possibly but health and team cohesion need to be at the forefront of their priorities.
Wade would be silly to take anything less than a max. The real question is, where is he willing to go and get his money?
