After the recent trade of Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Chicago Bulls are in rebuilding mode. According to Nick Friedell of of ESPN reported that there haven’t been talks about Dwyane Wade being out yet, but if the talks were to happen, the buyout would have to help the Bulls.
Pax says if Wade, and his agent, Leon Rose, would like a buyout — it would have to be ‘advantageous’ for the Bulls.

Dwyane Wade opted into the last year of his contract with the Bulls just last week. Butler was one of the reasons Wade committed to the Bulls after leaving the Miami Heat, so with him gone, Wade may want out. The former Finals MVP is going into his 14th season in the NBA, so the chances of him wanting to be a part of a rebuilding year is slim.
Even though Wade doesn’t want to be part of the rebuilding process, he may not have a choice. The Bulls don’t need to buy out his contract, and if they do, it could just be a way for Wade to make his way onto the Cleveland Cavaliers for the minimum. If he’s making $24 million from his Bulls contact, he could take a minimum contract with the Cavs. John Paxson, the Vice President of Basketball Operations, may make this less likely.
Basically what Pax just said was that if Wade wants out of Chicago he’s going to have to give back a chunk of the guaranteed $24 mil.

At the age of 35, Wade could be looking to team up with former teammate LeBron James, and they could possibly be in on recruiting Carmelo Anthony to join the Cavaliers as well. Even if the Bulls decide to let Dwyane Wade go, it could take most of the season for it to happen as the buyout deadline is after the trade deadline.
