Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets is almost finished with his 11th NBA season, and the 6’11” center doesn’t plan on stopping there.
Howard has a lot of respect for Tim Duncan, who is in his 18th season. He told Jenny Dial Creech of the Houston Chronicle:
“That’s always been my goal- to play 20 years in the league so I think it can be done,” said Howard, who is in his 11th NBA season. “It would be great. Tim is still playing great basketball. He has migrated to different spots on the floor instead of just the post.”
It would be very impressive for Dwight to play 20 seasons, especially when you consider that only 4 players have ever played that many seasons. These four players are Robert Parish, Kevin Willis, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kevin Garnett.
It certainly is possible for Dwight Howard to continue his career for nine more seasons. However, if he wants to do that he’ll have to overcome his nagging injuries, and figure out how to rely less on his athleticism. After all, he’ll be 38 years old by then.
