We now have some clarity on both sides in terms of where the Rockets are at and now where Dwight Howard & Dan Fegan are at. (D12’s Agent)
We knew yesterday that the Rockets are doing a 180 from what they said last month and are now taking offers for Dwight Howard via trade. This is because they didn’t think they’d still be below average and are now getting pressured to do something about it. There was also word that Dwight was thinking about bolting after this season which gave Houston incentive to trade him now and get something for him.
Moving onto today, we now know that Howard never asked for a trade, clearly hasn’t stopped Houston from looking around.
Dan Fegan, agent for Dwight Howard, issues statement to ESPN: “I’m not privy to what the Rockets are doing or not doing with respect to Dwight Howard. What I can say, with 100 percent certainty, is that Dwight has not and has never asked the Rockets for a trade. And neither have I.”
Rockets center Dwight Howard, reached Thursday by ESPN, says in reference to earlier statement from his agent Dan Fegan: “Dan’s statement is true. I have not asked the Rockets to trade me. Nor have I talked about right trades. I want to win. I want this situation to work. I chose this team. And I’m not running because we have been faced with some adversity.”
This quote is mute in reference to Houston shopping him but at least we know the full picture.
Personally. I think the Rockets should do what Atlanta are doing. Blow it up now, save years of heartache and tanking. Blow it up now and you will be back in a year or two compared to being too late and taking three to four years of rebuilding.
