After lots of rehab and over 20 games missed, Dwight Howard is preparing to make his return to the Houston Rockets.
We’re inching closer towards Dwight Howard‘s return to the Houston Rockets from his right knee injury. Howard predicted recently that he’d be ready in these coming weeks, and now from the Houston Chronicle’s Jenny Dial Creech:
Dwight Howard says he is “really close” to coming back.

Howard has cited that he feels more explosive in the aftermaths of his rehab. He’s missed 23 games for the Rockets who still find themselves in the top four of the Western Conference.
More from Howard, via Dial Creech:
“We did some extremely tough workouts on the treadmill,” Howard said. “Any time anyone says ‘treadmill,’ I lose it because I don’t think anyone understands what they had me doing on the treadmill. I was just begging them, ‘Can I play so I cannot have to do this?’ Rehab is harder than the actual practice and all that stuff so the treadmill, I hate that word. I bought a treadmill and I am thinking about getting rid of it because of all the stuff they have had me do.
“After that, they had me start doing court workouts and even the court workouts were intense. We did some in Portland and a lot of the guys wanted to join in. They did a couple sets then were like, ‘Nah, this is pretty intense.’”
Howard went on to say that his primary focus is being fully healthy for the playoffs, where Houston will most certainly need his presence if they are to make any kind of significant run. The Rockets have been feisty, scrappy, and have remained true to their free-flowing, air-it-out system. Having Howard as a screener, roller, rim protector, and anchor is vital, but for Houston’s sake, you hope there doesn’t have to be a visible chemistry adjustment upon Howard’s return.
Especially since the postseason begins next month.
