Love him or hate him, you can not deny Dwight Howard is legit one of the good guys in the NBA. Outside of his alleged off-court antics, Dwight Howard is always one of the NBA’s biggest stars that always gives back. This time, Dwight is giving back in a different way, to a very special man.
Before the Rockets regular season finale on Wednesday, a blood drive will be taking place beginning at 11 am and it will be for Craig Sager, a man that means a lot to Howard and his family.
Following from ESPN’s Calvin Watkins.
“I know a lot of people deal with a lot of different types of cancers and leukemia. Craig is a close friend of mine, my family. He’s part of the NBA family. You hate to see anybody who is a part of you go through anything. I just want to do whatever I can to help. I’ve lost family members, [and] one of my closest friends is battling breast cancer right now. Just a lot of different things going on that I just try to find ways to help.”
Dwight is hosting the blood drive at the Toyota Center to support Craig Sager and his ongoing battle with cancer. Sager recently revealed on HBO’s Real Sports that his cancer is no longer in remission and he is getting treatments in Houston.
Everyone who donates will not only be giving to a good cause but you will also get a t-shirt with an illustration of Sager and Howard on it. If you want to sign up to donate, check it out here or find out more information straight from the Houston Rockets.
