Dwight Howard has been fighting off knee problems all season. In January, he went down with a knee ailment again and no one knew when he would return. Eventually it was announced he would be out 6-8 weeks to rehab the edema in his right knee.
Recently Howard began doing workouts on the basketball court with the Houston Rockets but there wasn’t a clear timetable for his return.
Now it seems like Dwight has a set time in which he would be coming back to the team.
Following from ESPN.com.
Dwight Howard, who hasn’t played since Jan. 30 because of edema in his right knee, expects to be back in two weeks, he told ESPN’s Lisa Salters on Wednesday.
Howard said he feels more explosive on the court and that’s great because he will need to return to classic Dwight form if the Rockets expect to go anywhere in the playoffs.
Howard was a shell of himself early on this season and you can tell he was playing through some sort of ailment with the Rockets. He tried his hardest but he just didn’t look right, so shutting it down for a little bit was a great idea.
In his absence, James Harden elevated himself to the top of the MVP discussion and has made sure he carried his team to be currently fourth in the Western Conference. Their standing, without Dwight Howard, who was once such a dominant force, is very respectable and possibly shocking to some.
Howard will be the deciding factor to the Rockets playoff hopes. His season has not been the greatest and he will have to play second fiddle to James Harden, but with the way ‘The Beard’ has been playing, I don’t think he’d have a problem with that. The judgement is still out if Harden can carry a team on his own, so we will see what he has left after this stellar season.
