As the first half of the Wizards 92-83 win over the Memphis Grizzlies was coming to a close, Drew Gooden took a dribble and a step-back to free himself of Zach Randolph. Randolph fell for the fake, and went on to play defense as if an imaginary Gooden was taking the ball to the hole. Sadly for him, Gooden was still standing at the three point line with the ball in his hnads ready to fire up a shot.
The shot went in for Gooden and the Wizards increased their lead to 49-38 with just over 50 seconds left in the half. The shot helped Gooden reach his total of 16 points, and gave Gooden just one of his three three-point shots. The shooting performance from outside the arc certainly helped Gooden to get his scoring numbers up from where they usually are.
Gooden didn’t really break Randolph’s ankles, but making a guy take a few steps backwards has to be a good feeling for any big man. I’m pretty sure this is the closest Drew Gooden has ever been to breaking another player’s ankles, so he must be feeling pretty good.
