Draymond Green is one of the most unique players in NBA history. Despite not having elite athleticism, Green has carved out a role in the NBA as arguably the most crucial part of one of the most talented teams the league has ever seen.
Green’s defense and passing are huge parts of the Warriors’ success over the last two-and-a-half seasons. There are certain games where those skills, as well as others, are accentuated and show up in the box score in a major way.
Friday night was one of those instances as Green completed a monstrous effort to lead the Warriors past the Grizzlies with a final score of 122-107.
On a team with both Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, it was Green who stole the show, recording a triple-double and coming just short of the first 5 x 5 game in the NBA since Green did it in December of 2015.
Green’s final statline: four points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, 10 steals, and five blocks with only two turnovers. Green became the first player ever to record a triple-double with single-digit points, doing so with his rebounds, assists, and steals. The 10 steals were also a Warriors’ franchise record.
It was an altogether historic game from Draymond Green and one that showcases just how unique and impactful he is.
