The Golden State Warriors put the final touches on their magical 2014-15 season by defeating LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers last night to win their first NBA Championship in 40 years. Fresh off their series clinching win, questions of the future were immediately presented to one of the more pivotal parts of the team, Draymond Green.
Before the Warriors took the court in Cleveland last night, their GM Bob Myers took center stage and told everyone not to worry, Draymond will be back next season. Green backed up what Myers said by going out on ‘The King’s Court’ and putting up a triple-double in game 6, becoming the 10th different player in the NBA since 1985 to do so. He had a fantastic game scoring 17 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, handing out 10 assists while also swiping 3 steals.
It’s quite a performance for Green who has been rumored to possibly receive contract offers from multiple teams, including his hometown Detroit Pistons.
Following the game, Green was asked about his big performance and what that may mean for his future this summer. While he had no words, he did make quite the face.
While Draymond knows very well what this offseason could mean for his career, it appears he might not be testing the market.

-Q: Can you do this multiple times?
-GREEN: We want to come back. And I think this team—we’re young, we’ve got our nucleus in place. We’ve got a lot of guys making sacrifices.
I think we can continue to do this for years to come.
-Q: How sure are you that you’ll be back with this team next season?
-GREEN: I’ll be here. I love this group of guys.
-Q: Is that Steph telling you that?
-GREEN: Steph’s telling me that, everybody’s been telling me. But I’m not thinking about free agency at all right now. I’m a world championship.
Green is often the emotional leader of this squad and he’s not afraid to show it. That could also be the case here, Draymond could be riding an emotional high and just saying he wants to stay with the Warriors. I’m sure the guys would love if he stayed on the roster because he’d be one of the most important pieces in their pursuit for a possible repeat next season.
Then again, why would you want to leave a team like Golden State that can only get better from here.
