Stephen Curry is still questionable for game 3 vs. the Houston Rockets, but his MRI on Tuesday showed essentially nothing according to the Warriors. Game 3 is on Thursday so the one-time MVP will be able to rest and get the proper treatment he needs to be back on the court if needed. Draymond Green doesn’t think he should rush it.
As part of the Undefeated series with ESPN’s Marc J. Spears, Green mentions that Curry doesn’t need to play:
It was frustrating because you want him to be out there, and he brings so much to our team. But at the end of the day, we prepared the last two days like Steph wasn’t playing. It wasn’t a surprise to us. We knew, ‘All right, we got to pick him up.’
As far as Steph being in the next game, I know he doesn’t want to miss two games. But at the end of the day, there is no reason for him to be out there. We have to continue to pick him up. We plan on playing until June. To try to force him back out there now is not really the best idea. I think he will be out there, from my conversations with him. But we just got to play it by ear and continue to see his progress over the next couple of days.
With Green & company expected to all play in Game 3 vs. the Rockets in Houston on Thursday, all eyes are on reigning league MVP, Stephen Curry, not only to see if he can play, but IF he plays, is the ankle bothering him? When it comes to ankle and knee problems they tend to linger, especially if you’ve injured it before like Curry has. Draymond may have a point at the end of the day, the games might be a little closer (more money for the NBA), but Curry gets some needed rest a time to heal. We’ll see on Thursday at 9:30 EST.
