One the the biggest, or possibly the biggest, songs of 2015 has been curved by the Grammy committee. Not due its popularity, but a simple clerical error by Cash Money. According to Hits Daily Double, the gaffe stems from Cash Money not submitting the song in time. The record was set to be a multi-category contender.
In an interview with Complex, Head of Awards, Bill Freimuth, expounded on the situation with “Hotline Bling” and it’s seems that Drake and Cash Money have to take the L on the potential Grammy nods.
“It turns out that ‘Hotline Bling’ was never entered into our process by the label,” Freimuth said. “That song came out, and it took a long time for it to build into the hit that it became. I think our members just didn’t foresee the incredible success that that song has had, and they focused instead on his other work. Any one of our members can enter anything so long as it’s eligible, and ‘Hotline Bling’ was certainly eligible.?”
