
First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will lead the Presidential Delegation during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. Biden is no stranger to leading a delegation at the Olympics. Previously, she led the Presidential Delegation at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games and the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Biden will not be the only spouse heading to Paris, France later this month. On August 11, second gentleman Doug Emhoff will lead the Presidential Delegation during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. In addition, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth will lead the Presidential Delegation during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games on August 28, 2024. Two weeks later, United States Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra will lead the delegation during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games.
The 2024 Summer Olympics are set to kick off on Saturday, July 26 in Paris. Team USA is currently represented in 31 of the 32 sporting events, including basketball, boxing, swimming, track and field. Heading into the international sports competition, Team USA is favored in several events, including golf, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
