It looks like Apple will be jumping in the Original Series game. THR is reporting that Dr. Dre will be starting and producing in his own new six episode series, labeled “Vital Signs”. THR reports multiple sources saying that the series will in fact be a half hour scripted show. The show is being sold as a semi-autobiography centered around Dre’s “emotions” and how he goes about dealing with them.
“The show is not a comedy” THR reports, “it is described as a dark drama with no shortage of violence and sex.”
The series is being directed by Paul Hunter. All parties involved called upon Aaron Ginsburg and William Green to help produced the show. Robert Munic, a writer and executive co-producer for Fox’s Empire was asked to write oh the six episodes for Dre.
Vital Signs will air on Apple’s new streaming service, but an exact date has yet to be given. Stay tuned for all updates on the show.
First rap billionaire, a classic biography, a good album and now the first tv show for Apple, if you’re not inspired Dre’s moved, you should be. He started straight outta Compton and never looked back.
