Is it safe to say that August has been nothing short of a great month for Dr. Dre and N.W.A as a whole? I’d say so. With the release of the biopic, Straight Outta Compton, and Dr. Dre’s Compton album, legendary west coast Hip-Hop has been the talk of the scene for the past few weeks. With that momentum comes hunger for music. Debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200, Dr. Dre’s Compton isn’t ready to leave the top 5 as he holds the No. 3 spot with 55,000 copies sold. Just beneath him at No. 4 is N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton album, which shifted 44,000 copies thanks to the overwhelming response to the biopic’s release. Surely, it’s a great reminder and introduction to some of just how prevalent and respected these gentlemen are to Hip-Hop music and culture.
