
Doug E. Fresh, George Clinton, and Gloria Gaynor will be honored at The National Museum Of African American Music. In a report by Billboard, the three musicians will receive the museum’s Rhapsody & Rhythm Award. They will be honored today at the Music City Center’s Karl Dean Ballroom in Nashville.
NMAAM President and CEO H. Beecher Hicks III said in a statement,
“The Rhapsody & Rhythm honorees span the breadth of African-American music, representing disco, hip-hop, and funk. Their artistry is innovative and influential, carrying an impact that can still be felt today.”
Louis York, the Shindellas, and Mr. Talkbox will pay tribute to Clinton. Fatman Scoop and DJ Mars will honor Fresh, while Avery Sunshine will pay tribute to Gaynor.
