President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are reportedly experiencing “mild” symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.
“As all of you know the president and the first lady tested positive for COVID-19,” White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said.
“The president does have mild symptoms, and as we look to try to make sure that not only his health and safety and welfare is good, we continue to look at that for all of the American people.”
The couple is currently being quarantined in the White House. At the moment, it is unclear how long the two will remain sequestered. However, Meadows was clear in stating that he expects the White House to report more positive COVID-19 cases.
“I fully expect that as this virus continues to go on, other people in the White House will certainly have a positive test result,” he added.
President Donald Trump has not yet addressed the public since sharing that he tested positive for the virus. With one month to go until the election, his positive test may play a major role in electing the next U.S. President.
