Prior to taking over in Miami in 1970, Don Shula coached the Baltimore Colts for a brief seven-year stint. In those seven seasons with Baltimore, Shula compiled a 98-71 record.
But Miami was where Shula would truly build his legacy as perhaps the best coach in the history of the NFL. Shula was the head coach of the only undefeated team in NFL history, coaching the 1972 Dolphins to a perfect season and a Super Bowl title to cap it off.
Prior to entering the coaching realm, Shula also had a productive NFL playing career as a defensive back. He played for the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Colts and Washington Redskins, compiling 21 interceptions in seven seasons.
Shula would finish his coaching career in 1995 and remains one of the most prolific head coaches the NFL has ever seen. In 33 seasons of coaching, Shula endured a losing season only two times and holds the record for most coaching wins in league history with 328.
