Oddly enough, no Top Dawg Entertainment recording artist has released a new full-length project in nearly a year. Still, the label finds a way to keep excitement alive. Last summer, Kendrick Lamar announced that he was preparing to release his final album with the label. Not long thereafter, TDE welcomed Ray Vaughn into the fold. In the midst of all that, SZA continues to drop new singles and Reason delivered an EP. Now, a new chapter is beginning in the TDE story thanks to Doechii.
Closing out the month of March, rising star Doechii announced that she would be joining the storied music imprint. Previously, the Los Angeles resident appeared on Isaiah Rashad’s aforementioned album, The House Is Burning, and toured with SZA. Now, she’ll take center stage with her own music.
“I’m excited to run with Top Dawg – to work, to have a home for my overflowing ideas,” Doechii said in a statement obtained by Complex.
“I want to create a new vision, a new lane, and so much music. Everyone is invited to the Doechii dominance.”
