Clippers front office and their head coach Doc Rivers isn’t too thrilled that his guard Dahntay Jones received a $10,000 fine from the league yesterday.
On Sunday while Lisa Salters was interviewing Draymond Green, Jones comes over and makes unnecessary contact with Green during a postgame interview.
Jones who is looking to appeal the fine, insists that the contact was by accident in a interview with the LA Times:
“We never got into it, we never exchanged any words,” Jones said. “We never exchanged any glances. We never ran into each other. I don’t even know him as an individual, so there’s no bad blood. Somebody had a good game and wanted a little bit more attention.”
Doc Rivers jumped in and questioned Green’s toughness. When he was shown the bumping footage his reaction to the LA Times was:
“Wow, that was such a violent bump!” Rivers deadpanned. “I’m telling you. It was amazing. I told Dahntay, ‘You’ve got to be careful. That was too hard.’ I guess that tough guy at Golden State, I mean, I think the bump was too hard for him, clearly, the way he reacted.”
Rivers and Jones are killing me with these responses. It wasn’t the power behind the bump it was the principle. If you accidentally bump someone your going to look in that direction just like Green did. I’d bet money if Rivers got bumped in that same manner he would have the same reaction as Green. It’s pretty safe to assume that by now we know Jones did not look back to apologize or even address the situation when we all know he felt it. If he did I’m pretty sure Green wouldn’t have sounded off about Jones in other interviews that night.
I pray that somehow the Clippers and Warriors match up in the playoffs so after Rivers and his sorry, destined for second round failure Clippers lose again, then Green can find ways to troll them after the game.
