The Clippers have been bitten by the injury bug recently. Most notably Blake Griffin and sixth man Jamal Crawford. And to be fair the Clippers have survived well. I thought they’d flounder and dip into the doldrums of the 6th, 7th and 8th seeds. But it seems that with DeAndre Jordan (who has to get a max contract now) and Chris Paul carrying the team. Griffin is back to help the charge.
But Crawford is still out. And he is crucial if the Clips want any chance at a deep Playoff run. Head coach Doc Rivers is concerned about his cavalry. Saying to the Daily Breeze that Crawford might not play again this season.
“Well, I’m concerned,” he said. “I mean, make no mistake about that. I mean, I was pretty confident that Blake (Griffin) would be back at some point, so I didn’t have concern on that. But I do have concern with Jamal; I’ll say that.”
“There’s a chance,” said Rivers, whose team today at 12:30 p.m. plays host to the New Orleans Pelicans. “You know, I don’t know right now because he’s improved, but not enough, I can tell you that. He’s nowhere near, in my opinion, playing. So we just have to hope he gets better.“
Jamal Crawford has a strained right calf. Usually that wouldn’t be a problem but this is clearly something that he has been dealing with for some time. And I’d rather deal with it now and fight another day than attempt to play with it and risk further injury.
