Paul Pierce is one of the greatest Celtics of all-time.
It has been awhile since Pierce has played for the Celtics. For the past three seasons Pierce has played for three different teams. The Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Celtics picked Pierce 10th overall in the 1998 NBA Draft and were rewarded with a championship in 2008.
Pierce will always be remembered as a Celtic and current coach Doc Rivers would like to see him retire as a Celtics.
“If Paul decides to retire, then we’re going to make sure that Boston picks him up for one day and he retires a Celtic because that’s what he should retire as,” Rivers told Adrian Wojnaroswki of The Vertical on The Vertical Podcast.
Pierce signed a three-year deal with the Clippers last off-season which means the Clippers would have to waive Pierce before he signs with the Celtics.
Pierce is reportedly planning on playing this season for his 19th season. Last season Pierce averaged 6.1 points per game while playing 18 minutes a game.
Whenever Pierce decides to retire his jersey will almost immediately be hung in Boston.
