
Disney has reportedly set the stage for a Hercules live-action remake later this decade. Behind the scenes, Disney has tapped Shang-Chi writer Dave Callaham to write the script. Meanwhile, Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War producers Joe and Anthony Russo have stepped in to produce this film as well. However, they fill not direct the film.
In front of the camera, no casting decisions have been made. With that being said, fans have put in their two cents. Most notably, fans have pushed for Ariana Grande to be included in the film after she sang “I Won’t Say I’m in Love” during The Disney Family Singalong. In addition, rumors regarding Idris Elba and Ryan Gosling’s involvement have been tossed around.
Hercules is the latest Disney classic to get the live-action treatment. Last year, Donald Glover, John Oliver and many others starred in The Lion King. Mulan is also set to get the live-action treatment later this year. Rounding out the slate of films, The Little Mermaid is supposed to get a live-action remake starring Halle Bailey in the near future.
