
As the midterm elections grow closer and closer, certain topics of national importance become more and more prevalent. Over the last few weeks, discussion about voter suppression, health care and national security have become more and more prevalent. Not to mention, these topics will become even more hot button issues as the 2020 presidential race begins following the midterm elections. Among the many topics set to be discussed over the next few years, immigration is definitely up there as one of the most hotly contested subjects.
Throughout the Trump administration, immigration has become a recurring topic of debate. Things managed to ramp up even more when images surfaced of families being separated at the border because of Trump’s recent immigration policies. With everything that has happened pertaining to this issue, it only makes sense that the media would attempt to capitalize on it.
Discovery Communication has officially given the green light to an upcoming series called Border Live. The six part reality and documentary series is set to explore the lives of border patrol officers and those attempting to enter the United States through the United States – Mexican border. The series will be co-hosted by CNN Anchor, Bill Weir, and journalist, Lilia Luciano. The duo will have their work aired on Discovery this December.
Following the announcement of the upcoming show, Nancy Daniels of Discovery and Factual said, “The U.S.-Mexico border has been the focus of our national dialogue over the last several years. Our goal with this project is to shine a light on epic stories through immersive experiences.” She later added, “We will turn that lens on one of the biggest and most important stories of our time.”
The series is to premiere on Discovery at 9 p.m. on December 5th.
