Dirk Nowitzki will play for his home country in Germany in the Eurobasket in September. The top-2 teams from the Eurobasket qualify for the Olympics, despite that not seeming feasible for the weaker German national team, spots 3 through 6 will put them through an Olympic qualifying tournament.
According to Dirk, It’s official (Via Sportsnado).
Nowitzki already mentioned that he wants to help Germany qualify for the Olympics because it will probably be the last time he will play for his country. Nowitzki who will turn 37 before September’s Eurobasket doesn’t have many more years left in basketball, i’d probably say 3 maximum. He’ll want to help them qualify, add another impressive accolade onto his already hall of fame resume.
