Nowitzki defeated the NBA’s all-time three-point leader Ray Allen and three-time all-star Gilbert Arenas to secure the three-point crown in 2006, and now the 40-year-old, in his 21st NBA season, has been offered a chance at a final bow in a contest that highlights Nowitzki’s main strength in his storied career: shooting. The event is set to take place on February 16th during the course of this year’s All-Star Weekend events in Charlotte, NC.
During the 2018 NBA offseason, Nowitzki signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Mavericks that saw him become the first player in NBA history to play 21 seasons with a single organization. Nowitzki’s noted willingness to sacrifice for the betterment of the franchise he’s devoted over half of his life to was on full display only a few days after re-signing in Dallas, restructuring his contract to aid in the signing of center DeAndre Jordan.
