We all know the drama that was in Cleveland around Dion Waiters and his possible issues with LeBron James.
Since the 3-team trade went down that centered him being sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder and in return Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith went to the Cleveland Cavaliers there has been story upon story about Dion’s problems in Cleveland.
While both the Thunder and Cavaliers along with some of the players involved have found recent success, the 2 squads are trying to prove themselves to the NBA world and will find no bigger stage to do so than an NBA Sunday matinee matchup on ABC. When Waiters returns to face the Cavs, the topic came up if he’s talked to any of his former teammates and one person in particular.
The following from Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com:
Waiters said he has only spoken to Tristan Thompson and Kyrie Irving via text since the trade went down that shipped him to OKC in three-team swap that landed J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert in Cleveland.
He has had no communication with LeBron James. The All-Star has not called nor sent a text. Northeast Ohio Media asked Waiters if he would have preferred if James gave him a ring.
“Man, he had his chance to reach out,” Waiters told NEOMG. “I’m not losing any sleep.”
The real thing I wonder is who else has he talked or not talked too? What about Kevin Love, Shawn Marion or Mike Miller? Seriously though, what about Love? Nothing with him?
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out on the court between the Cavaliers and Thunder on a national television stage. Maybe Waiters tries to go at LeBron, only time will tell.
