Some good things just don’t see the light of day. Today, Marvel fans were gifted a new trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, an official poster for the movie and given the opportunity to buy tickets for the April release. However, moviegoers were also given the unfortunate news that DeWanda Wise will no longer co-star in the upcoming Captain Marvel release.
Reports from various entertainment outlets indicate that Wise’s exit from the Marvel project is the result of scheduling conflicts with the second season of Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It. No release date for the second season has been revealed as of yet, but many believe that production will begin in the near feature for Wise and her cast.
While the She’s Gotta Have It star’s role was never revealed, it was widely believed that Wise was tentatively cast to play the role of Monica Rambeau. In the Marvel universe, Rambeau, who was once Captain Marvel herself, is a key advisor to Captain Marvel.
For the time being, the 90’s themed Captain Marvel is set to be lead by Room’s Brie Larson alongside Jude Law, Gemma Chan and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set to be released in March of 2019. Stay tuned for updates to the cast are revealed in the coming months.
