In Thursday night’s matchup between the Buccaneers and Falcons, there was a sign of hope for the NFL: Devin Hester. In a stunning performance, the former Chicago Bear managed to rush for a touchdown, force a fumble, recover a fumble, and break Deion Sanders’ long-standing, punt-return record.
Amidst all the violence rumblings in recent weeks, we got this one bright spot. Hester ran back his punt and paid tribute to the former Falcon legend by skipping into the endzone. Then, in an emotional post-game interview, he explained how much of influence Deion Sanders had been on his career. What was most heart-warming however was the tremendous amount of love and respect Sanders has for his heir apparent.
Atlanta sits at 2-1 for the season. The dirty birds are back…and so is football.
