The NFL’s all-time return TD leader is finally hanging up the cleats. Devin Hester announced that he was retiring via Twitter early this morning:

Hester will forever be remembered as one of the greatest return men in the NFL ever. He finished with 5 TDs on kickoffs, 14 punt return TDs and even a field goal return for a TD. He made four pro-bowls and was All-Pro three times.
His last great season was 2014 when he lead the league in return yards. He played for Seattle and Baltimore last year but never actually saw the field.
Hester was most known for his time with the Bears, they first converted him from a defensive back to a WR after his rookie year. Hester caught 57 passes for yard 757 and three touchdowns.
Hester showered thank you’s on many people such as coaches fans, family, and teammates. He took some extra time to thank the Bears organization and fans;
“To all of the Bears fans, you brought me in and made a Florida boy feel at home in the Midwest from Day 1,” Hester wrote in his statement. “I grew into a man, built a family, and became who I am today in the city of Chicago. I’ll always remember the noise Y’all made whenever I hit the open turf at Soldier [Field] — never heard anything quite like it.”
Hester closed with “Hopefully next time I see Y’all it’ll be in Canton,”
