It’s well-known that Deron Williams‘ stats have been on the decline ever since his trade from Utah to the Nets, but with a new scenario in Dallas, his teammates are already expecting a better DWill with the Mavericks. His new teammate, Devin Harris, is already raving about how much improvement he expects in this new situation.
“I got traded for Deron with the Nets, but I’ve been knowing Deron and I’ve been playing against Deron since college,” Harris explained during an appearance for the Mavs Foundation’s court dedication ceremony Tuesday at Youth World Event Center in South Dallas. “I know what kind of player he is. I know he’s excited to be rejuvenated here, especially coming back home. And you know, hopefully he can kind of rejuvenate what he’s been doing, play at a high level and get us to where we need to be.”
Dallas should be way more competitive this season than Brooklyn is going to be, which should give Williams a lot of motivation to play harder and at a higher level. He has gone through some rough years as a member of the Nets, which could be the reason for occasional lack of production, but in Dallas, he can’t take any nights off.
Before Williams was able to find his way to the Mavs, they were expecting to start J.J. Barea at point guard for the upcoming season. He’s a great player, but Williams is far more talented, so some more comments like this from teammates should be coming out soon to show how thankful they are.
