The new year kicked off with a number of exciting bouts throughout the first quarter. Gervonta “Tank” Davis stopped Hector Luis Garcia in brutal fashion, Tim Tszyu came up big against Tony Harrison and Artur Beterbiev added another stoppage win to his resume. Not to mention, Alycia Baumgardner and Amanda Serrano became undisputed champions. With all that has happened thus far, the second quarter promises to be equally, if not more, exciting. Shakur Stevenson, Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez, Sebastian Fundora and Alexis Rocha are just a few of the young fighters set to fight in the coming weeks. There’s also a major fight with Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Ryan Garcia on the horizon. For the time being, many eyes are set on an undisputed title fight in the lightweight division. Returning home after spending much of 2022 in Australia, Devin Haney will have his opportunity to fight former undisputed champion Vasyl Lomachenko. On paper, Lomachenko is Haney’s toughest opponent yet, but the Oakland native believes that he’ll “dismantle” the former champion.
“Everything I bring to the table [is great]. [I have] a lot of skill, a lot discipline [and] a lot of great IQ. A lot of the things he has done to guys and been better than them at, I will be better than him at,” Haney said.
“You’ll see me being victorious by any means necessary. [You’ll see] me being dominant. [You’ll se] me being skillful. [You’ll] see me showcasing things you haven’t seen yet in my arsenal. [You’ll see] me just dismantling a southpaw.”
On May 20, Haney will have the opportunity to back up his predictions. In the event that he does emerge with a win, he may move up a weight class. He may also opt to stay for a fight with Gervonta “Tank” Davis or Shakur Stevenson.
