Devin Booker hit two controversial free throws at the end of the Phoenix and Portland game last night. With the Trail Blazers up 117-116 with just seconds on the clock. Everyone in the arena knew who was taking the last shot for the Suns. Booker swung out of the wing, drove hard to the free-throw line, angling off the elbow, Norman Powell got a little too close with his right arm and the foul was called.
Many on social media thought the call was given to Booker due to his “status” comparing it to calls that legends like Kobe would get. Watch for yourself and see.

Devin Booker being Devin Booker would sink both free throws with ease. Portland would have less than a second to work with and the Suns won the game 118-117. Damian Lillard would drop 41 points in the game along with 27 more with CJ McCollum, Portland was giving the second-best team in the west a run for their money. Although, they didn’t get much help from anyone else. Carmelo Anthony and Jusuf Nurkic would combine for 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Booker finished the game with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Chris Paul led the Suns with 26 points. Mikal Bridges and Cameron Payne would both outscore Book with 21 points apiece. Bridges would also pull down 11 rebounds in the absence of DeAndre Ayton. Phoenix would finish the game with seven players in double digits versus four for the Blazers.
The Suns are a mystery to most right now. They are a newly built team in all reality, and under the first year of Chris Paul as the point guard, no one knows what the Playoff ceiling is for this group. They have even managed to revive the career of former Murray State Racer, Cam Payne. The 2021 NBA Playoffs are right around the corner as the regular season finishes up.
