Following the announcement that she will appear as Rogue in the upcoming X-Men movie, details of Anna Paquin’s role have been revealed.
According to Vulture, Rogue’s story has been revised.
Originally, the film was to feature an expensive set piece in which Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) rescue Rogue from the Xavier Mansion, now a military base guarded by the mutant hunting Sentinel robots.
In the revised version of the film, an injured Kitty Pryde [Ellen Page] is using her powers to project Wolverine [Hugh Jackman] into the past. As she begins to suffer from her wounds, a replacement is needed, and only Rogue’s ability-absorbing powers can help.
Although the original scene has been cut, it has been revealed that Paquin’s character was always intended to step in and relieve Pryde.
X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters May 24.
