Glory, honor, respect, integrity — these principles are sought out at different capacities in two of our more prominent phenomenons in entertainment today, the NBA and HBO’s hit fantasy series, Game of Thrones. The two have crossed paths in creative content before, when Bleacher Report dropped the fantastic ‘Game of Zones’, part one and part two, an comical animated trailer that blended in NBA figures with the Thrones context.
This time it’s Stargazer Media who decided to merge HBO’s biggest show ever with the NBA. Their designers made a Thrones-themed sigil for each of the 16 NBA playoff teams, which is especially cool for those like me who happen to love the show and the NBA. Personal favorites would be the Cavaliers and Rockets. The Cavs’ look has the inherent medieval feel to it and I love the modern twist to Houston’s. The others are just as awesome.
For reference, if I were a Raptors fan, I would have wanted some kind of reference to THE NORTH on theirs. But in all seriousness, what an awesome way for the NBA to again be associated with such a different lane of entertainment and popular culture.
