Desi Banks is reportedly developing a half-hour, multi-camera sitcom comedy inspired by his stand-up material for BET. The series will chronicle the life of “a lovable yet stubborn comedian on the rise as he attempts to balance fatherhood, relationships, and the pursuit of his ever-present dream.” Banks and Malcolm “Champ” Heaggans will write the series with Atlanta-based Quality Films and Jermain Johnson’s 3 Arts Entertainment branch producing.
First and foremost, thank you, God. Thank you to my [d]ay [o]ne supporters who’ve been rocking with me since 2012—back when we had vision after vision, even if the timing wasn’t always right. The journey has been full of highs and lows, but through it all, God gave me the strength to stay grounded, keep going, and continue walking in my purpose,” Banks celebrated. “I’m so grateful to be here—elevating, growing, and shining a light in this world through what I love to do. Thank you, BET, for believing in me and giving me and [Heggans] the opportunity to walk into that room and pitch something special. That moment changed everything.”
Banks rose to prominence through his work as a sketch comedian, garnering millions of views across multiple social media platforms. Along the way, he’s worked with Atlanta legends like Ludacris and 21 Savage. More recently, he’s expanded his comedic presence with work as a stand-up comedian. He’s toured with accomplished acts like Gary Owen and Mike Epps. Last year, he headlined the ‘Purpose Chaser’ Tour, and this year, he’s headlining the ‘Elevation’ Tour.
