Everyone from his brother, to the fans and the Bulls organization have different thoughts on whether Derrick Rose should come back. However, there’s only one opinion that truly matters and that’s Derrick’s. The 24 yr old superstar from Chicago spoke to ESPN Chicago about how he’s feeling and when will the world see him back on the court:
“I think I can do everything, it’s just me having the confidence to do it,” Rose said before practice. “Just me feeling normal.”
“I really don’t know [about a return this season],” Rose said. “I’m just like you all where I’m waiting till that day where I feel normal.
While mostly everyone focuses on the physical part, the mental part of injuries such as the one he suffered against the Sixers in the first playoff game of 2012, it’s equally important. Rose has been talking to his agent, who also used to play for the Bulls and won three rings with Michael Jordan, B.J Armstrong.
“Just take my time” was Armstrong’s biggest piece of advice, Rose said. “If I rush back and something was to happen everybody would say, ‘Why did you rush back?’ Just taking my time and being prepared and knowing when I come back I want to be 100 percent, that’s fine.”
There’s not a single person that doesn’t want to see Derrick Rose back on the court, yet the only person who will get blamed if he gets injured again it’s him. No one can understand how he’s feeling, I’m glad he isn’t paying attention to that and just doing the decision that’s better for himself.
The Chicago Bulls find themselves with the 5th spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 35-28, only the Indiana Pacers have a better record than them in the central division.
Rose, 24, tore his ACL on April 28, and had surgery on May 12th.
