Derrick Rose Started Rehab The Day After His Knee Surgery
Derrick Rose just suffered another injury to his right knee which meant having another surgery to repair his torn medial meniscus. Just one day after his surgery, Rose is starting his rehab at the Bulls training facility, as reported by Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago.com.
Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, via Friedell:
“He’s good,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. “He came in, started his rehab, it’s good.”
“It’s just the initial steps,” Thibodeau said. “But we’re cautiously optimistic, he’s in good spirits. He’s on it, so it’s good.”
“It’s mapped out with the medical people,” Thibodeau said. “The one thing about Derrick is he’s been through a few of them. He’ll follow the plan and hopefully everything goes fine.”
Bulls GM Gar Forman said the timetable for Rose’s return would be 4-6 weeks, which would bring him back for the postseason, where the Bulls would obviously like to have the services of the former MVP.
Rose tore the ACL in his left knee in 2012, followed by his first meniscus tear in the right knee in 2013. If this is to be a fortunately short-lived stint for Rose, we’ll see if/how it affects both Rose and the Bulls upon his return.
