The Bulls would surely have considered the possibility that the 2010 MVP may not be ready to return until the latter portion of the season, at which point it might not be conducive to either team nor player, to risk a return to the court. It was initially thought he could be back by the All-Star break.
Rose is fully aware that returning too soon from an ACL tear could jeopardize his long-term future. This could be the safe move for him and the Bulls franchise.
