It seems that the two alphas in the Chicago Bulls are finally co-existing with no friction. Before this past week there were constant stories of Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose butting heads for no particular reason.
Most of us just assumed that DRose was maybe a tad salty about Butler becoming the leader of the Bulls, moving Rose to a role player position. And let’s be fair, it’s the right thing to do. Butler is superior at the moment and the Bulls can’t have a leader with a health bill like Rose’s.
But it’s all good now, they’re basically best buds all of a sudden.
“We were laughing about it, saying the more games we get under our belt, the more comfortable we’re going to be,” Butler said. “I love playing with him. He’s super aggressive. He’s taking great shots. That’s what we need. As long as I follow his lead on that style of play, we’re going to be really good.”
“It’s always going to improve,” Rose said of their chemistry. “This is new for me as it’s new for him, playing with an elite guard. We’re very young. The way that he has been playing is great. Like I always say, I want him to shoot more. But I just love his shot selection. And the way he’s driving to the lane, getting fouled, it helps our team all the way around.“
With these two meshing finally, it’s full speed ahead for the rest of the season. Mike Dunleavy is near returning and Pau Gasol is playing like it’s 2010. All is pretty rosy in Chi-Town.
