Derrick Rose: “No Fears” Of Injury
Chicago Bulls star point guard Derrick Rose seems to be using this summer’s experience, competing with Team USA in the FIBA World Championships, to acclimate his body and mind to being a dominant force on the floor again. Rose was sidelined last season after suffering his second season-ending knee surgery since 2012. Team USA’s injury woes are a feasible cause of concern for players, with Paul George going down drastically and even DeMarcus Cousins’ knee scare in practice on Thursday. Rose, however, remains unphased by thoughts of injury as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times:
No, I have no fears. I have faith. I know that I’m going to be fine. I know that I busted my ass the entire two summers. You can say two seasons to get back to where I am right now. And just try and keep it moving, stay positive every day, do everything consistent like I’ve been doing.
That’s the sound of conviction from the 2011 NBA MVP. Rose’s teammates and coaches have all testified at just how strong and confident he looks on the floor. More on his mentality,
Every time I step on the floor it’s something to prove. I have my own little goals in my head, I have my own little things that motivate me in my head that I keep to myself. But every time I step on the floor I try to produce.
Team USA’s first exhibition this Saturday against Brazil is in Chicago at the United Center, and it will be Rose’s first live-action competition since November. What better way to debut than in front of his own city? Expect Bulls fans to pack the arena for a sample size of their point guard as he prepares to be their best player again.
