Derrick Favors is a player that has all the talent in tho world, and to some extent he uses them to the highest of his ability. He gets good stats, he does a lot for the Jazz.
But unfortunately, he plays for a team that isn’t covered often by national media and they haven’t made Playoff moves. So how could you put him over a LaMarcus Aldridge or a DeMarcus Cousins? But Favors is frustrated that he gets snubbed, in this case it’s the Team USA 34-Man Minicamp Roster.
‘I was frustrated for a while,’ Favors said at the team’s practice facility Monday, his feelings somewhat tempered after having a few days to digest the news. ‘Overall I got over it. They picked the guys who they wanted to get. The only thing I can do is continue to work hard, continue to work on my game and prove my point next season.’
Favors’ point is that he belongs among the NBA’s best.
You look at Favors’ statistics and go ‘he deserves a shout’. But this just says to me that I was right. We are entering the Golden age of the big man. There are so many worthy bigs, when you see a USA Basketball team or an All-Star squad. You are bound to look at a player and go “He should’ve been in there.” It’s unfortunate but that’s life.
