Dallas Mavericks point guard Deron Williams is still recovering from a Sports Hernia injury suffered this past season, but believes he’ll be fully healed once training camp rolls around.
According to Williams, his recovery this summer is going well.
“Feeling real good”, Williams told NBC Dallas this week. “It’s healing pretty well. I’m doing a lot of work on and off the court. I haven’t got the full-go clearance yet, but it’s coming soon. I’ll be ready to go definitely by the time training camp rolls around”.
Williams confirmed that while his recovery is going smooth as planned, he still has a few physical limitations — For now.
“I’m running, I’m jumping a little bit. I’m just not going crazy. I have to wait until August 1st for that, to go see the doc and get the go ahead. But it’s not much restriction right now”.
Williams re-signed with the Mavericks on a one-year deal this summer after a successful stint with the team last year. Dallas prioritized him this offseason, inking him to a deal that pays $10 million annually on the third day of free agency.
The 11-year veteran Williams averaged 14.1 points and 5.8 assists in 32 minutes per contest with Dallas last season. Williams will likely be named a starter this year in a lineup that will consist of Wesley Matthews, Dirk Nowitzki, and newcomers Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut.
