Deron Williams is acting cool, calm, and collective with rumors about him being on the trading block with his fellow teammates Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez.
“I’m not worried about it, man,” Williams said with a smile Wednesday morning following the Nets’ morning shoot around at the Moody Bible Institute ahead of their game against the Bulls. “I’m a Net until they tell me otherwise.
“It is what it is. It’s a business, so stuff like [trade rumors] happens. … I don’t see any problem dealing with it. Brook Lopez has dealt with it, so I don’t see it being a problem for him, and I don’t think Joe Johnson is too worried about it.”
Nets have explored the options of moving their top three players Williams, Johnson and Lopez in trades in order to shake up their roster following a 8-11 start to the season. Williams has been averaging 17.4 points 8.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds through 19 games this season.
The Nets look to get back on track against the Chicago Bulls tonight at 8:00 est after suffering two blowout defeats, 98-75 to Atlanta on Friday and 110-88 to Cleveland on Monday. The Nets will have to do it without Johnson (flu) and Lopez (back) who remained in New York instead of traveling with the team to Chicago for tonight’s game.
