It wasn’t just your typical run-of-the-mill preseason opener last night for the Brooklyn Nets. It was the official basketball opeber to a new era in the franchise’s history, and a chance to make the first impressions on the hometown fans. Nothing was going to deter from the Nets evening, so with just about one minute remaining in the game, and Nets point guard headed to the basket for an exclamation on a solid win for Brooklyn, the Wizards A.J. Price decided to slow him down with a chest bump.
Seemingly wanting to prove something, Price then snatched the ball away from Williams leading official to hand out a double technical on the duo after words were exchanged. During the post-game press conference, Williams elaborated a little on what Price was jawing at.
“I wasn’t doing anything. He just started talking,” Williams said. “Just, ‘I’m home.’ I don’t know what that means.”
When told that Price is from Long Island, Williams shot back to reporters by saying, “Okay?”
“I’m not a tough guy. I just like to play basketball. I hate when people just start talking for no reason. I guess he had some boys in the crowd he wanted to impress while he can — the little minutes he’s going to get this year.”
Brooklyn we go hard.
