The New York Knicks have been decent, not great, but they’re definitely better than what they were last year. And that’s a start. But there’s some clear points where they need to improve, closing out games is one. They could’ve beaten the Cavs the other night but they simply let it slip.
Sometimes it’s hard to see if coaching is the problem. When it’s the coaching it usually takes us a few years to clock onto it. Take Scott Brooks for instance, it took all of you years to notice that the man does barely anything. He hid behind the physical ailments that his players had and basically told KD and Westbrook to just do whatever.
Now Derek Fisher isn’t that bad, I mean the Knicks are playing the Triangle, can’t slack on the triangle. But it’s clear that he has some work to do and he knows that.
“We’re just not getting it done,” he said.
“I have to do a better job of putting guys in position to be successful out there,” the coach said. “They’re doing what we’re asking them to do.”
“It’s my job to help the situation get better down the stretch,” he said.
The Knicks are 4-6, which is a good start for their first 10 games but they can easily be 5-5 or possibly 6-4, so they can’t settle. Porzingis is playing well, Carmelo is healthy, they need to take advantage of the leads they get and keep them when the final buzzer sounds.
