Former Minneapolis Police Department Officer Derek Chauvin has been moved to his third facility in just more than three days since his arrest. Previously, authorities were holding Floyd in the Ramsey County Jail. He was moved to Hennepin County Jail over the weekend. Hours after arriving in Hennepin County, authorities moved him to a facility in Oak Park Heights. Commissioner of Corrections Paul Schnell told reporters on Sunday that the decision to move Chauvin was in part because of COVID-19 concerns.
This news comes as Chauvin awaits his first appearance in court. He was previously scheduled to appear in court on June 1, 2020. However, his first court appearance has been moved to Monday, June 8th.

State prosecutors have charged the former officer with third degree murder and second degree manslaughter for the death of George Floyd. If convicted, he could face up to 35 years behind bars.
As of now, Chauvin is the only officer facing charges regarding Floyd’s death. It is unclear if the other officers will be charged in Floyd’s death.
