Denzel Washington is set to join Joel Coen’s on-screen adaptation of the Shakespearean play ‘Macbeth’. He will join ‘3 billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri’ actress and oscar-winner Frances McDormand in the film.
Denzel Washington is in talks to join Frances McDormand in Joel Coen’s Macbeth, a big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic play, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Coen, McDormand’s husband, who directed her in Fargo, is penning Macbeth and will direct. Scott Rudin is set to produce.
Oscar-winner Washington was most recently seen in Sony’s The Equalizer 2 and is set to take a step behind the camera to direct A Journal for Jordan, starring Michael B. Jordan. Washington is repped by WME.
There is no indication as to what role Washington will play but from my knowledge about the play (from my Grade 12 English class) there would only be one role he’d be fit to play and that is the role of Macbeth. As for McDormand, she had preformed as Lady Macbeth in theatre since 2016 and will dawn the role in the film.
There is no release date or production date for the project.
